Bend's Best Dog Pooping Pad

It must be something in the grass, perhaps the fertilizer, or maybe the way it's mowed. My dog loves Duke Warner's, off of Newport, lawn.

He'll walk with me everyday, sniffiing for the right flavor...but only Duke will do, or doo doo.

I make sure that I have a baggie to pick up my dog's gift, but it is such a shame when I pick up the gift from my pooch.

Duke Warner you deserve every drop of my doggie's love.

It's pretty exciting, next week is the second annual Bendfilm Festival.

I think it's great to have a film festival here. You can tell, by the amount of financial support earned by the non-profit, that I'm not the only one who thinks that.

I like it's advertising campaign, conjured up by Mandala Agency. Reminds me of the five second blurbs on the scifi channel. You know, the dragon eating head or the bug boy who flys up to the screen.

I think the major challenge of keeping this bird in the air for the board members and executives of this film festival is staying humble. I've seen some event gurus make something out of nothing, deserving every moment to enjoy the fruits of their blossoming vision, later turning into very stuck-up event monsters.

Let's all hope that the monsters for this event stay on the screen.

Are there any country fans out there? I'm not, but it's pretty interesting that there's a famous musician living in Bend, Oregon. Anybody hear of the String-A-Longs from the 60's? Check out this "Uncommon Man" 's fan site. According to the sight, "The String-A-Longs was one of the rock 'n' roll groups managed by Norman Petty in the early days of rock 'n' roll. Their unique instrumental style, Torres' Fender Jazzmaster guitar played through a Magnatone amp and Torres' original songwriting produced several huge hits, including "Wheels", "Mina Bird", and "Twist Watch". The original group toured and performed extensively with such groups as the Everly Brothers, Marty Robbins, Roy Orbison, Rex Allen, Sr., Del Shannon, The Shirrels and many others. Torres co-wrote the hit song, "Sugar Shack" with Keith McCormack while he was staying at Keith's Aunt Fay's house. Torres gave his rights in "Sugar Shack" to Aunt Fay as a birthday present. "

I mean, I’m sorry, what in the heck is going on with our Trumpland here? Since when does a three bedroom, two bathed popsicle stick house, with a nice view of your neighbor’s showering crack, end up in the 300’s?

They should start a new organization and call it Humanity for the Habitat. Because before long, it'll take half of humanity's cash to own a lot in Bend, Oregon.

This morning I noticed how much fall-like things are getting and that friggin jingle sounds off in my head. Damn you Cameron! Damn you for invading my consious and forcing me associate an entire season to your egotistical ass.

Mt. Bachelor

Wow, I just read that Mt. Bachelor is doing a $2 million dollar make over to its West Village Lodge. All I've gotta say, it's about time. It's been like eating in a 1970's junior high school cafeteria. Spit wads, moon cratered burger patties and old pizza. Whatta dump.

The article says that the Deli will be more upscale. Well, spend your money wisely and throw a couple bones to your staff, you filthy ski pirates. They are the ones who'll really make the lodge upscale, not a cement contractor.

Bend's Most Underrated & Overrated Events

In my feeble opinion Bend's best event is the Bend Farmer's Market. Even though a lot of the vendors are from the valley, there's a big number of local grown veggies and goods.

The most overrated event this year is definitely the Bend Centennial. I mean come on already even our country doesn't celebrate its birthday more than one day and it's been around more than twice as long. I wish that the Warms Springs area would celebrate the Wasco Millennium just to burst these hobnobbers (from California and New York) bubbles.

I was getting coffee this morning and a few people (Four Men) were sitting at a table, talking about Bend, Oregon.

I couldn't help but to listen in to the group as I stirred in my cream and sugar. They were discussing ideas that'd make money for the City to pay for the upkeep of certain westside neighborhoods.

"I think they should put in a toll booth at every roundabout on the westside," one man said. "In order to go through it you need to toss in some change."

The other men laughed, not in the "ha ha, good one," kind of way, but in the "evil rich guy-great scott," kind of way.

All I've got to say folks is stay on the look out next election period.

First Day on the Job

So I had this crazy idea today (somewhere about the time I was watching NEWSCHANNEL Twenty effin One broadcast yet another sensational story leading them into another ratings period) to go on a crusade, discovering the rich, famous and eccentrics of Bend, Oregon.

You know, the people everyone talks about. The, "oh my, look who just walked in the room," person. The, "did you hear about so and so? " person. The, "I can't believe that they did that," person who you'll find in Bend.

That's right folks. They are Bend Celebrities or they're desperately trying to become one of them.
